The Rolling Stones are an English band that rose to prominence during the British
Invasion of the 1960s. They are one of the longest running most successful acts in
show business, still recording and tourings. They have sold 240 million albums
worldwide. Starting with "Satisfaction" in 1965, The Stones became regular chart
toppers until the early Eighties. They also routinely gross more than any other touring
act the years they tour.
Like most early British rock groups, they were influenced by a variety of American
musical forms, especially Rythym and Blues and early rock 'n' roll. From their first
album "The Rolling Stones", the Stones fashioned a trademark hard rocking sound
based on R ' B and Rock 'n Roll. Their cover of Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away" leaned
heavily on I IV chording that would later dominate on cuts such as "Street Fighting
Man" and "Brown Sugar. The Stones rebellious image stood in contrast to the clean-cut
image The Beatles nurtured.

It is rare for an artist to excel in two media and
successfully communicate his vision, but Jerry
Schatzberg accomplished just that. During the 60s,
Schatzberg's photographs appeared in many magazines,
including Vogue and McCall's. His portrait and fashion
photographs conveyed intimacy and directness. There
exists an honesty which prevails throughout the images,
a sense of the real, a sense of the moment when the
facade is broken.
During the 70s, Schatzberg participated in the
renaissance of the American cinema. He directed films
as: Puzzle of a Downfall Child, The Panic in Needle
Park, Scarecrow, and Street Smart. His films mark an
important time in the history of film when the solid
narrative and plot were at their strongest, before the
arrival of the world of special effects.

1. It's you Colleen-your in the chair, right? 2. Ronan, right?
Rick (Wise Guy) Mackinney
Thanks for the compliment, but I'm not nearly that attractive.

Kind of hard to not guess the Stones with Mick Jagger's mug dead center. I've seen the
poster "In Drag" in the past and on Ebay. The hardest part was coming up with the
photographer. Fred Stuart

Are you doing a section on Cross dressers? Other famous rock stars known for cross-
dressing: http://www.redferns.com/propxt/main/search_string~keyid:84::
/ltext~CROSS%20DRESSING
And non—musical- noted Transvestite-Comedian Eddie Izzard; I’m also tempted to add
Liberace- technically, he wasn’t cross-dressing, but I think he definitely “Skirted the
edge” as it were (LOLOL) . I remember Jim Bailey who did a phenomenal Streisand
and Liza Minnelli… http://www.jimbaileyweb.com/
RuPaul?
You could head off to movies- with Birdcage, with Robin Williams and Nathan Lane (a
descendant of La Cage aux Folles); To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie

Mary, I think you have too much time on your hands. I am worried about you.

The faces looked vaguely familiar, and then I recognized Mick Jagger. He turned 63 last

I learned way too much about WWI Wheelchairs and Military Uniforms.Actually the
uniforms let me know that it was not taken in the 40's or 50's. This Photo was taken in
the late 60's early 70's and was on the rear of the cover sleeve for the weird song "Have
you seen your mother baby (Standing in the Shadow". Jaggers lips were the best clue
and I tried to link Bianca as the photographer. The clue "Guess Who" no pun intended
was a bit leading and at the same time misleading. I also researched a lot of USO and
Bob Hope sites for GI's in drag or Burlesque type GI entertainment tours. Not a sore
winner this time; LOL

Now this one I liked! It was easy for me as I recognized Mick Jagger right off the bat
and I'm a Stones fan...grew up with their music. My daughter got it right way also. I've
told a few folks at work about your site and I'm sure they'll enjoy the challenge. Our
newsletter is distributed to about 450 people, so I'm sure folks will be stopping by.
I'll keep checking the site for the next quiz. This is fun!
